Data center
eGlobel Ventures servers are colocated at different Data Centers across
the USA and Canada. Our server s are located in different geographical locations,
this helps us achieve worldwide network coverage.
Each Data Center is of a World Class Tier-1 standard and carefully selected
to achieve maximum performance to internet users across the globe.
Each Data Center has the following minimum specifications:
-
Cisco 7000 Series Routers
-
IDS (Intrusion Detection System), Firewalls and 24/7 Monitoring
-
Cisco, Nortel, HP and other top manufacturer Switches
-
Border Gateway Protocol (BGP4)
-
Dual automatic redundant HVAC Climate Control
-
UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) - 1 hour +
-
Backup Generators
-
Dual Power Grids
-
VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus ) and Fire Supression Systems.
-
Keycard or Fingerprint and PIN Access
-
24x7 Security on site
-
24x7 dedicated technicians on site
Connectivity
Our connections to the Internet backbone are supplied by Applied Theory,
AT&T, Broadwing, Connect, ELI, Fastnet, Genuity, Global Frontier, iPrimus,
Optus C&W, Powertel, Telstra, UUNET Worldcom, Vivanet and many others
through peering and bridges. Our connections to each backbone is via DS3s
(45Mbps), OC3s (155Mbps) OC12s (622MBps) and OC48 (2.5Gbps) in total over
4Gbps!!!. Bandwidth utilization is kept to a low level to ensure plenty of
redundancy. The OC48 lines can be upgraded to multiple OC192 (10Gbps) in
30 minutes.
Routing
Each network utilizes Border Gate Protocol (BGP4). BGP4 protocol is the standard
that allows for routing of packets of information sent out from the networks,
thus creating a truly redundant network by routing traffic over the most
efficient route possible. Due to the redundant entirely switched Cisco powered
network, data is automatically redirected through another route in the event
of a router failure. Should one of our backbone providers fail, packets are
automatically redirected through to another one.
Bandwidth
Each DC has installed top-of-the-line Cisco Systems 7000 series backbone
grade routers on the core layer and Layer 3 switching on the distribution
layer providing superior segmentation and increased bandwidth across the
backbone. Each server is connected to its own switched 100Mbps port reducing
congestion. This configuration provides maximum uptime in the event one of
our providers faces an outage. Bandwidth utilization is continuously monitored,
allowing us to accommodate even the largest bandwidth surges.
It is a misconception that the amount of bandwidth (size of the pipes that
carry the data) differentiate web hosting companies. But in reality it is
not the size of the pipe that matters, it is the utilization levels that
do matter. We have multiple redundant connections which allow us to guarantee
customers a maximum of 60 per cent capacity utilization at peak times and
an average of 40 per cent utilization across all networks.
Monitoring
Our Network Operations Center is monitoring the network and servers at all
times. Services being monitored include POP3, httpd, Ssh, Ftp, and Bind(Dns).
All services are monitored 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Center Tour |
 |
| Individually locking cabinets
all feature standard 19-inch rails, fully louvered doors, louvered tops,
a high powered fan, and a bottom ventilation duct. This allows your servers
to run in an optimal environment. |
 |
| A digital camera system was custom
designed to monitor every entrance into and out of the Colocation Facility,
every hallway and every cabinet. |
 |
| This 550CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute)
fan exhausts the warm air out of your cabinet, and also pulls in the cooler
conditioned air to keep all equipment at an optimal operating temperature. |
 |
| Backup batteries power the UPSs
so that in the unlikely event of a power outage your servers will keep on
running. |
 |
| Every cabinet is individually
keyed to limit access to your equipment. |
 |
| Uninterruptible Power Supplies
(UPSs) not only provide clean conditioned power, but also power your equipment
during the time between an unlikely power outage and when the emergency generator
becomes active. |
 |
| These oversized air vents allow
for the forced cooler conditioned air to enter into your cabinet. This helps
in keeping equipment running at its best. |
 |
| In the unlikely event of a power
failure, our generator will power up within the first few seconds, reinforcing
the power from the UPS. With refueling contracts, the generator can operate
indefinitely. |
 |
| Every cabinet is outfitted with
a vertical power strip with 12 outlets. The vertical power strip was preferred
so that rack space would not be compromised. In addition, most of our racks
are now fitted with APC MasterSwitch power reboot ports so that customers
can reboot their internet appliances remotely. |
